Nagoya PCG Celebrates 127th Philippine Independence

In commemoration of the 127th Anniversary of the Philippine Independence, the Consulate General of the Philippines in Nagoya hosted receptions at the TIAD Autograph Collection Hotel on 11 June 2025.
 
In his opening remarks, DCG Jerome Castro recognized the bravery of Filipino forbears in securing our democracy and freedom, and likened it to the bravery of the modern Filipino worker overseas, and the men and women in the Philippine Foreign Service continuously serving and working while away from their families.
 
DCG Castro likewise celebrated, together with the Officers and Staff of the Consulate General of the Philippines in Nagoya, the fifth-year anniversary of the establishment and opening of the Philippine Foreign Service to serve the Filipinos and other stakeholders in the Chubu Region.
 
Nestor Puno, President of the Philippine Society Japan and the Filipino Community Central Japan, led the toast together with other leaders and distinguished members of the Filipino Community from Central Japan, such as Linda Taki of CPFA, Virgie Ishihara of FMC, and Marian Chiba of HFC.
 
In the evening, Nagoya City Mayor Ichiro Hirosawa led the toast and is joined by other Mayors from the Chubu Region such as, Mayor Hibi Kazuaki of Tsushima City, Mayor Hiroto Fujii of Minokamo City, and Hidaka Teruo, Mayor of Higashiura Town, as well as other Officers, Staff and important individuals from the Japanese Government and the Japanese community.
 
Filipino cuisine such as lechon and kinilaw na isda were served during the receptions. Mr. Jose Enrico Tuazon, a cellist, provided musical entertainment during the reception by playing classic OPM such as “Maalala Mo Kaya” among others. END
