Nagoya PCG joins the Filipino Community in celebrating  “Ang Saya-saya ng Pasko sa Nagoya 2024”

16 December 2024 – The Filipino Community-Central Japan (FCCJ), together with One Network Co., Ltd. and as supported by the Philippine Consulate General in Nagoya, once again held the “Ang Saya-saya ng Pasko sa Nagoya 2024” at the Hikari no Hiroba, Sakae, Nagoya City last 14 and 15 December 2024.

 

In his opening speech, Consul General Roy B. Ecraela emphasized on the importance of resilience and unity among Filipinos especially through trying times, and how it can help overcome any trials and tribulations in life. He then thanked the Filipino Community for its continued participation in the event and the Japanese Local Government for its unwavering support of the event and its Filipino constituents across the Chubu Region.

 

The two-day event enjoyed the presence of thousands of Filipinos and Japanese who were entertained by various modern and cultural songs and dances from the Filipino Community, live band performances of “Agaw Agimat” and “Olkisrotom”, as well as the participation of the  “Mocha Girls” and the cast of “Binibining Marikit”, Herlene Budol, Pokwang, Tony Labrusca and Kevin Dasom.

 

Also in attendance during the event were Aichi Governor Hideaki Ohmura, Nagoya City Mayor Ichiro Hirosawa, House of Representatives Member and former Nagoya City Mayor Takashi Kawamura, and Higashiura Mayor Teruo Hidaka, who gave their respective keynote messages in support of their Filipino constituents.

 

In addition to commercial and Filipino food booths, the services of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), along with the Philippine Society Japan (PSJ) and Filipino Migrants Center (FMC), which are integral in facilitating the coordination of the Consulate with distressed Filipinos and in coordinating with local Japanese authorities, were also available during the event.
