Nagoya City and Philippine Consulate General open Multiculturalism Exhibition in Central Gallery
Philippine Consul General Roy B. Ecraela and Nagoya City Mayor Takahashi Kawamura led the ribbon cutting ceremony for the opening of the Nagoya Multiculturalism Exhibition on 30 August 2023, with the attendance of the members of the Nagoya City Government and the Filipino community.
The Exhibition, jointly organized by the Nagoya City Government and the Consulate General of the Philippines in Nagoya, runs until 10 September 2023 at the Central Gallery in Central Park. The initiative is part of Nagoya City Government’s thrust to promote a multicultural society, in response to the growing number of foreign migrants in Japan and the need to foster understanding and harmony among local and foreign residents.
The Exhibition features the Filipino community in Nagoya, highlighting their contributions to the economic vibrancy and cultural diversity of the City. It also provides information about the Philippines and Filipino culture, to raise awareness about the roots of the Filipino community in Nagoya and the wider Aichi Prefecture.
