09 July 2023 - Consul General Roy B. Ecraela discussed various Assistance-to-Nationals, community and cultural programs, activities and projects that will be conducted for the remainder of CY 2023 during a merienda and get-together with leaders from the Filipino Community in the Chubu Region. He likewise invited the FilCom leaders to coordinate with the Consulate and each other in the planning and implementation of various Philippine festivities not only in Nagoya City and Aichi Prefecture, but also in the entire Chubu Region so as to eventually generate greater visibility of the important contributions of the Filipino diaspora in Japan.

Consul General Ecraela proposed a technological approach and/or the use of various social media platforms to improve the networking among FilCom leaders and members.

The FilCom leaders also called for coordination and development of programs in terms of addressing social issues, especially those affecting women and children. The Consulate also intends to reduce, if not curtail, the number of distressed overseas Filipinos, though what Consul General Ecraela refers to as “pro-active/preventive” ATN, with the help of DFA-OUMWA.
