Consul General Celeste Vinzon-Balatbat welcomed on Monday, 06 December 2021, executives of Japanese company Ibiden, led by Mr. Koji Kawashima, who paid a courtesy visit to the Consulate General of the Philippines in Nagoya.
This courtesy visit is one of the activities being pursued jointly by the Consulate General of the Philippines in Nagoya and the Philippine Trade and Investment Center (PTIC) in Osaka to generate more trade and investment flows between Japan and the Philippines.
During the visit, Mr. Kawashima and company gave a briefing on Ibiden’s investments and operations in the Philippines, as well as their company’s expansion plans and internship program for Filipino nationals.
Ibiden has a manufacturing facility at the First Philippine Industrial Park in San Juan, Batangas, which produces packages for computers, communications, and other electronics-related products. The company provides employment to 2,400 Filipinos.
Consul General Balatbat thanked Ibiden for sustaining its operations in the Philippines and noted the company’s gains from its operations in the country despite the challenges posed by the coronavirus pandemic.
The Consul General also emphasized the Consulate’s readiness to provide advice and assistance to Ibiden’s engineers and technical personnel who are travelling to the Philippines to perform critical functions in the company’s operations.
