The Tourism Section of the Philippine Consulate in Osaka, in coordination with the Consulate General of the Philippines in Nagoya, hosted an appreciation seminar for the travel sector at the Hilton Nagoya on 01 December 2021. The event was conducted within capacity restrictions and attended by 45 travel and English as a Second Language (ESL) buyers from Nagoya City.
Tourism Attaché Gwen S. Batoon opened the event, conveying the Philippine Department of Tourism’s Osaka 2022 travel trade-centered work program.
With the Ganbaro joint promotions program and RT-PCR test package, the Tourism Section hopes to reboot the travel trade procurement to pave the way for early recovery of the industry.
The Welcome Remarks by Consul Fernando Beup, Jr. echoed the Department of Tourism’s initiatives anchored on the tourism stakeholders’ and front liners’ wellbeing. The Consul reached out to the travel trade stakeholders and conveyed the desire of the Philippine Consulate in Nagoya and Osaka to create an active relationship with the industry.
Joining the Consul was Japan Association of Travel Agents (JATA) Chubu Secretary General Mr. Isao Nakatsu, who delivered the toast with a message of hope and resilience.
The seminar speakers included the representatives of the Philippines’ two flag carriers, Philippine Airlines General Manager Tomoko Takahashi and Cebu Air Inc. Executive Account Hisayoshi Takeuchi, as well as tour operator representatives from Attic Tours and PGS Travel and Tours Inc.
The seminar included the latest situationer report on the pandemic, a comprehensive report on the latest protocol, and an internet feed from the Attic Tour’s Office in Cebu.
Meeting the Consul and the Tourism Attaché after the seminar were enthusiastic ESL buyers keen to respond to the Consulate’s expressed openness to assist in the development of ESL travel bubbles.
