NPCG Delivers Seminar on Divorce for Aichi Administrative Scriveners
DCG Jerome Castro delivered a seminar titled “Divorce in the Philippines” on 22 May 2025 at the Aichi Administrative Scrivener Association (gyoseishoshi), upon the kind invitation of its President Mr. Isao Takeda.
Attended by around 80 members, the seminar covered the historical development of divorce laws in the Philippines, the absence of absolute divorce under current laws, and the judicial recognition of foreign divorce (JRD) under Article 26 of the Family Code and key jurisprudence and administrative guidelines.
Practical advice was shared on required documentation, the importance of selecting qualified and effective legal representation in the Philippines, and understanding the JRD process.
The seminar aimed to equip Japanese administrative scriveners with better knowledge of Philippine family law and procedures, enabling them to support Filipino clients adequately.
The seminar was organized through the efforts of Ms. Naomi Watanabe, Deputy Head of the Nagoya Chapter, and Ms. Etsuko Yomogita of the International Affairs Division of said association. END
