Consul General Ecraela Calls on the Mayors of Toyohashi and Toyota Cities

Philippine Consul General Roy B. Ecraela visited Toyohashi and Toyota Cities on 29 September 2023 and called on Toyohashi Mayor Yushitaka Asai and Toyota City Mayor Toshihiko.

The visits are part of the Philippine Consulate General’s initiative to reach out to the local governments in Aichi Prefecture and facilitate response to concerns affecting the Filipino community.

During the calls, Consul General Ecraela informed the Mayors of the initiatives of the Consulate to unite the Filipinos in the Chubu Region and empower them to become a positive force in Japanese society. He also expressed the Consulate’s support for the multiculturalism thrusts of both cities that seek to create harmony and coexistence among Japanese and foreign nationals.

The Mayors introduced their respective cities to the Consul General, including the local events and festivals that their cities hold every year. They also encouraged the Consul General to visit the sights and enjoy the popular events in their respective cities.

Consul General Ecraela noted the popularity of festivals in both Japanese and Philippine cultures and emphasized the active participation of the Filipino community in the multicultural festivals in Japan. He also solicited the Mayors’ support to the cultural activities of the Filipino community and thanked them for looking after the welfare of Filipino nationals in their cities.
