The Philippine International Quincentennial Conference resumes today with Panel C | Early Philippine Gold Crafting Technology Part 3 of Session 11 | Early Philippine and Southeast Asian Boat-Building and Gold Crafting Technology.
This Session explores the technological advancements that were present in the Philippines and in the larger Southeast Asian cultural space during the First Circumnavigation of the world and how these developments arose from the scientific and cultural exchanges between the various peoples in the region and from the local conditions of the pre-colonial communities.
For Panel C, Dr. Michael Armand P. Canilao of the National Museum of the Philippines will show the developments in the use of technology on the archeological study of precolonial human-environment interactions while Kenneth C. Esguerra of the Ayala Museum delves into the ancient techniques of Gold Working in Butuan. Ms. Marga V. Binamira of the Philippine Map Society will be moderating this panel.
Session 11 is convened by the Father Saturnino Urios University in Butuan City.
