PICQ | Session 1 | Inaugural Session of the Philippine International Quincentennial Conference Opening Program and Panel A

Join us for the Opening Program and Panel A: Philippine Diplomatic Relations with Spain and Portugal in the Quincentennial of the Inaugural Session of the Philippine International Quincentennial Conference. This conference is an official program of the 2021 Quincentennial Commemorations in the Philippines and is in solidarity with the Year of Filpino Pre-Colonial Ancestors. The National Quincentennial Committee, the Department of Foreign Affairs, and the National Historical Commission of the Philippines serves as conveners for this session.

The opening program is hosted by the NHCP-Museo ni Emilio Aguinaldo. Chair Rene R. Escalante of the National Historical Commission of the Philippines will give his opening remarks. This will be followed by solidarity messages from Hon. Augusto Santos Silva, Foreign Minister of the Portugal; Hon. Ángeles Moreno Bau, State Secretary for Foreign and Global Affairs of Spain; and Hon. Teodoro Locsin Jr., Philippine Secretary of Foreign Affairs. Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea will introduce the Guest of Honor, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.

Joining us for Panel A are H.E. Jorge Moragas, Spanish Ambassador to the Philippines, DCM Emanuel Bernardes Joaquim of the Portuguese Embassy in Jakarta, Hon. Philippe Lhuillier, Philippine Ambassador to Spain, and Hon. Celia Anna Feria, Philippine Ambassador to Portugal. The panel will be moderated by National Museum of the Philippines Director-General Jeremy Barns.
