Session 7 explores the centuries old linkages that began with Magellan’s crossing of the Pacific and blossomed under the shared colonial experience under the Iberian Powers. Often referred to as Asia’s Latin Country, the Philippines continues to have strong cultural and historical ties with its Latin American brethren.

For Panel A | Peoples and Heritage in Old Filipinas-Mexico-Peru Network, Dr. Paulina Machuca of El Colegio de Michoacán, Dr. Cuauhtémoc Villamar of Siam Society, and Dr. Kristyl Obispado of the University of the Philippines Diliman will delve into the dynamic history of the Philippines and Mexico.
