Subject: Avoid Transacting with Loan Sharks
The Consulate General of the Philippines in Nagoya cautions the Filipino public against dealing with individuals or groups that offer cash loans or credit at predatory or usurious rates. These lenders operate outside government regulations and are considered illegal.
The Consulate General has received reports that individuals who have been unable to repay their loans are being subjected by their creditors to pressure, harassment, and threats.
Victims of loan sharks are urged to report their experience to the Consulate’s Assistance to Nationals (ATN) Section, for appropriate action of authorities.

Paksa: Iwasan ang Paghiram ng Pera sa mga “Loan Sharks”
Binibigyan babala ng Konsuladong Panlahat ng Pilipinas sa Nagoya ang mga Pilipino laban sa pangungutang sa mga indibidwal o grupo na sumisingil ng napakataas at labis-labis na interes. Ang mga operasyon ng mga nagpapautang na ito ay hindi naaayon sa batas at tinuturing na ilegal.
Ang Konsuladong Panlahat ay nakakatanggap ng mga ulat na nagsasabi na ang mga taong hindi makapagbayad ay pinipilit, ginugulo, at pinagbabantaan ng kanilang pinagkakautangan.
Ang mga biktima ng mga ilegal na nagpapautang o “loan sharks” ay hinihikayat na iparating ang kanilang karanasan sa Assistance to Nationals (ATN) Section ng Konsulado, upang matugunan ng mga awtoridad.
