01 January 2024 - The Japanese Government issued a Major Tsunami Warning on 01 January 2024 after a 7.6 magnitude earthquake struck Ishikawa Prefecture. Tsunami warnings were also issued for the prefectures of Niigata, Toyama, Yamagata, Fukui and Hyogo, also along the Japan Sea Coast.

 

At this moment, the Consulate is in coordination with the local government in prefectures under its jurisdiction as well as with various Filipino Community Leaders and its Representatives.

 

The Consulate is ready to provide assistance to those affected by the earthquake and tsunami. All are advised to follow emergency evacuation procedures issued by their respective localities.
