PROCESS FOR APPLYING FOR 9(A) TEMPORARY VISITOR’S VISA

3. Send through e-mail the required documents for pre-evaluation.

Non-Immigrant Visa

Basic Requirements for Non-Immigrant Visa 9(A) Temporary Visitor’s Visa:

a. Original passport and photocopy of its data page. The passport must be valid for at least six (6) months beyond the intended period of stay in the Philippines

b. Printed Online Visa Application System (OVAS) Form https://www.visa.gov.ph (Applicable to 9(a) visa applicants only)

c. Passport-size color photograph of the visa applicant, taken within the last 3 months

Additional Requirements for Temporary Visitors Coming for Tourism

Applicants proceeding to the Philippines for a legitimate, non-immigrant purpose such as sightseeing, amusement, sports and recreation, health reasons, or to visit family and friends, should present the basic requirements together with the following additional supporting documents with English translation, if written in any other language:

· Proof of Financial Capacity

Ø Applicants with income/gainful employment: Bank Book and copy of latest entry of funds or Bank Certificate of Current Savings

Ø Without income/gainful employment: Letter of Guarantee from spouse or parents or

Ø Guarantor’s Bank Book/Bank Certificate and copy of Guarantor’s valid ID, if travel is sponsored by a guarantor

· Proof of Occupation in Japan

o If a Student

Ø Certificate of Enrollment issued by school authorities and copy of alien card (if applicable)

o If Employed

Ø Certificate of Employment issued by employer, giving workplace name and address, nature of employment, financial remuneration of visa applicant and copy of alien card

o If Self-Employed

Ø Certificate of Business Registration issued by Japanese government authorities and copy of alien card (if applicable)

o If Retired/Unemployed

Ø Letter stating the fact that applicant is retired/unemployed and copy of alien card (if applicable)

Ø Proof of Living Accommodation Arrangements (hotel reservation/email confirmation / certificate issued by visa applicant’s hotel of choice in the Philippines, as applicable)

Ø Notarized Letter of Support and Guarantee of inviting party/sponsor in the Philippines, if applicable, attesting to guarantee all financial expenses of the foreign visitor and his/her compliance with Philippine laws while in the Philippines. The letter should be addressed to the Consul General, Consulate General of the Philippines in Nagoya, Japan with complete contact details and a copy of the inviting person’s passport. If the inviting party is a foreigner based in the Philippines, the letter must include proof of legal status/visa in the Philippines.

Additional requirements for Temporary Visitors Coming for Business

Foreign travelers coming to the Philippines for the purpose of attending international conferences, scientific, education, commercial, and/or professional workshops, conventions, lectures, contract negotiations, and other business meetings and company-related activities of similar nature, need to submit the basic requirements together with the following documents:

· If being sent to the Philippines by a Japan-based company/corporation:

Ø Letter of Endorsement from the Japan-based company/employer certifying the visa applicant’s employment with the company, the purpose of travel/nature of the business trip to the Philippines, flight details, and place of residence/hotel while in the Philippines and photocopy of alien card (if applicable).

· If being invited by a Philippine-based company/corporation:

Ø Letter of Invitation from the Philippine-based business partner/entity/counterpart company. The letter should include the reference person(s) in the Philippines, flight details, and place of residence/hotel while in the Philippines, and guarantee the foreign visitor’s compliance with Philippine laws and photocopy of alien card (if applicable).

· Foreign tourists are not permitted to study, practice their profession or seek employment in the Philippines without appropriate clearance/Study Permit or Special Work Permit from the Philippine Bureau of Immigration. Foreigners who shall receive compensation from Philippine sources after having been admitted to the Philippines under a category 9(a) temporary visitor’s visa need to coordinate with their Philippine office counterpart for the issuance of a Special Work Permit (SWP) as may be deemed necessary by the Philippine Bureau of Immigration.

· The Consulate may require additional documents when deemed necessary.

· Foreign nationals whose country does not have a visa waiver agreement with the Philippines must have a valid entry visa to be allowed entry into the country. They must also have valid tickets for their onward/return journey to the port of origin or next port of destination.

· Nationals from visa-free countries (EO No. 408) must have an onward/return ticket for use not later than 30 days from date of arrival in the country (or within the allowed period of visa-free stay for certain nationals).

· Nationals from visa-required countries–onward/return ticket within the allowed maximum stay.

· Foreign nationals entering the Philippines must have passports valid for a period of at least six (6) months from their time of arrival in the country.

· Visa applicants are advised NOT to finalize travel itineraries until after receipt of entry exemption documents and visas. The Consulate will not be liable for any missed flights due to proximity of intended travel date.

4. An in-person interview will be scheduled after the evaluation of the applicant’s submitted documents. The schedule of the visa interview will be sent through the applicant’s email or by phone.

5. Applicant pays visa fee JPY4,500 or JPY6,000, whichever is applicable. Visa fees paid are non-refundable.

6. The applicant will be notified by email or by phone on the pick-up date of the visa.
